Dr. Chen came to Humboldt County in 1998 from Southern California, after she completed her residency and Board Certification in Family Medicine at the University of California, Irvine. She worked as a staff physician for 3 years at K’ima:w Medical Center of the Hoopa Tribe, and then joined the staff at Redwood Family Practice in Eureka. Since 2015 Dr. Chen has been working as a physician at Redwood Urgent Care in Eureka. Her interest in treating skin diseases as well as in women’s health lead to the establishment of her second practice, in the field of aesthetic medicine. Dr. Chen believes that her patients deserve to have the knowledge, skill and aesthetic sense of a physician who not only cares about their aesthetic needs but also stressed the importance of healthy living and disease prevention. Every procedure or treatment that Dr. Chen utilizes has been thoroughly researched and proven for their effectiveness, safety and their minimally invasive nature.

As a busy, professional woman herself, Dr. Chen understands the importance of looking good and feeling great in todays competitive workplace. Since 2005 Dr. Chen has been helping clients achieve their goals of reducing wrinkles, improving their complexions, reducing blemishes, and diminishing the effects of aging on the skin. Dr. Chen has received extensive training and accumulated many years of experience working with facial injection techniques that allows her to achieve natural appearing facial enhancements with minimal discomfort for her patients.

Dr. Chen is a regular supporter of various charitable organizations that contribute to the health and wellbeing of women including: Doctors Without Borders, Planned Parenthood, The Global Fund for Women and KHSU. Her interest in Art History lead her to scholarly studies of women’s contributions to the arts and crafts. She is also a hobby guitarist and unit origami enthusiast.
