Smoothing
BOTOX® Cosmetic is an FDA-approved treatment for smoothing wrinkles between the eyebrows (glabellar lines), wrinkles on the forehead, and fine lines under the eyes (“crow’s feet”), resulting in a more youthful and relaxed appearance. With real, noticeable results, no surgery and no recovery time, there are many reasons why BOTOX® Cosmetic Cosmetic has been chosen by millions of women and men. BOTOX® works by temporarily relaxing the muscles that cause wrinkles, thus smoothing out your skin and leaving you looking vibrant and youthful. Our BOTOX® treatments take as little as 15 minutes to perform, so you will be in and out of our office with little to no downtime. Individual results may vary, however in most cases you will see a noticeable difference in the appearance of wrinkles around the injection spot for up to 3 or 4 months. This is why we suggest that patients talk with their cosmetic physician about developing a BOTOX® injection treatment plan and treatment strategy that will maintain your desired appearance without any gaps.

Volumizing
JUVÉDERM® Vollure XC is used to plump the skin and correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Vollure XC lasts up to 18 months, longer than any other JUVÉDERM® product, and tends to have less pain during injection and generally less swelling associated with it.
JUVÉDERM® Volbella XC is an FDA-approved dermal filler designed specifically for the lips and surrounding area. The filler consists of a hyaluronic acid gel that when injected fills in lip lines and wrinkles while maintaining moisture, so results can last up to one year. Because this injection is administered along with a local anesthetic, your treatment will be much more comfortable.
JUVÉDERM® Voluma XC is an injectable gel which is administered deep into the cheek area. It adds volume beneath the skin’s surface, providing a lift and creating a more youthful contour. JUVÉDERM® Voluma XC is proven to last up to 2 years, and some patients have reported looking up to 5 years younger with a single treatment! Returning patients who come in for treatment again after 2 years typically require less product to get the same great results.
JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC is an injectable gel designed for perioral rejuvenation and lip augmentation. It provides a natural-looking plumpness to the lips and reduces the appearance of vertical lip lines. Lips treated with JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC look full, beautiful, and natural. In clinical trials of JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC, 79% of subjects showed a significant improvement in lip fullness, and more than 78% of subjects reported loving the look and feel of their lips at one year after treatment.

Resurfacing
What is the principle behind skin resurfacing with Microneedling technology?
Percutaneous collagen induction ( PCI ) therapy or medical microneedling is a technique where a fractional microneedling device with fine microneedles has been shown to increase the remolding of the skin by creating thousands of microscopic channels through the skin, to increase the formation of new tissue by activating the body’s wound healing cascade (hemostasis-inflammation-proliferation-tissue remodeling). It is also referred to as a non-ablative skin treatment. This means that the deeper parts of the skin are treated without removing the top layer of skin. It is designed to treat various skin conditions such as fine lines and wrinkles, light scarring from acne and photo damage, and to improve skin color and other skin texture changes.
Microneedling is a form of Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT). The idea behind CIT is similar to that of many other non-surgical skin-tightening procedures in that it aims to create a controlled Non-Thermal injury underneath the skin’s surface, thereby inducing the body to respond through the formation of new tissue layers of elastin- and collagen fibers (neo-collagenesis) as well as new capillaries for an improved blood supply (neo-angiogenesis) in the treated area. The skin plumps and thickens in response to this stimulus, ultimately reducing the appearance of scars, and fine lines and other skin texture changes. It can be used off-label to perform treatments that improve the delivery of cosmeceuticals, DefenAge and Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF). Whenever we can generate openings in the skin we have an opportunity for topical to penetrate more readily through the channels created.

Lifting
Skin laxity on the face results in jowls, chin droops, eye lid droops, nasal labial folds and an overall saggy look. Redwood Aesthetic Medicine is proud to feature Thermage, the FDA approved, Gold Standard skin tightening treatment for those who’s skin laxity is not severe enough for surgery or who do not wish to have surgery.
Thermage is not equal to surgery. Thermage is a skin tightening system that uses radiofrequency energy to stimulate your own collagen rebuilding in order to achieve the skin tightening affect. The result is usually subtle but noticeable, your face will appear more contoured, shapely and your chin will be more tucked in. For the other body areas, Thermage can achieve tightening, smoothing and circumference reduction in some cases. Thermage is done through applying repeated radiofrequency pulses ( radiofrequency is the same energy source surgeons use to cauterize small blood vessels during surgery) with a treatment tip that is placed against your skin. No injection, no incisions and no down time are involved. There is a slight pinching sensation, and the new patented vibrational Thermage CPT tips have made the treatments very tolerable with minimal discomfort and maximal affect. Thermage is done as an one-time treatment but can be repeated once every 2-3 years, and each treatment takes about 2-3 hours to complete.

Rejuvenation
Redwood Aesthetic Medicine offers the Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) treatment, which harnesses nature’s own power of regeneration and repair to help restore damaged, aging skin and other tissues such as hair follicles. The benefits of concentrated platelets in wound healing, sports medicine and dental implants have long been recognized, and recently the cosmetic benefits of such treatments have come into light; these treatments, popularly known as the “Vampire Facial,” seek to rejuvenate skin with platelet-rich-plasma. Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) is the next generation in platelet technology; unlike PRP, PRF consists of more concentrated platelets and does not have any anticoagulant additives. Moreover, PRF contains the leukocytes (white blood cells), stem cells, and fibrin (matrix scaffolding material to support cell growth) which PRP lacks. PRF is a richer, more complex blood extract that provides the essential growth factors and building blocks for new collagen and new cell formation which PRP does not.
Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) concentrated from the patient’s own blood can be injected like a dermal filler, which not only adds volume but also helps regenerate skin cells and collagen. Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) can also be delivered into the skin through microneedling, which creates micro-channels that allow the concentrate to penetrate deeply into the skin. Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) is an effective and natural way to stimulate skin renewal and promote repair. It can also be used in hair restoration.
Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) is a game-changer in aesthetic and anti-aging medicine. Contact us HERE to find out if PRF is right for you, and step into the future.
Glacial Facial
What is the Glacial Facial?
Glacial Facial utilizes the cryogenic technique of flash freezing the skin structures to constrict small blood vessels and then allowing them to dilate and re-perfuse the skin immediately to achieve a rejuvenation effect.
What are the benefits?
It stimulates collagen production, decreases skin inflammation, produces antioxidants, and increases rate of natural exfoliation of skin through controlled rapid vasoconstriction (blood vessel constriction) and vasodilation (blood vessel release and reperfusion). Results may vary due to individual age and health condition.
How is it done?
A cryogenic machine is used to generate low temperature blasts that are held over the facial skin, one small area at a time, to achieve full coverage. Each area is treated for 10-30 seconds depending on thickness of skin. Treatment lasts about 10 minutes, total time in the clinic about 30 minutes.
How does it feel?
Cold blast chills the skin very briefly to below zero so you will feel cold, numbness and slight stinging in the area, followed by tingling as the skin re-perfuses. Your body might feel cold during the treatment so a blanket is provided.
Is there any after-care?
You should be using sunscreen and moisturizer as usual and we also recommend DefenAge skin treatment for stem-cell stimulation and new cell production twice daily to enhance the results (learn more about DefenAge on our Skin page). Taking 1000 mg of vitamin C per day is also recommended.
What do I expect to see or feel?
Your skin will feel tighter and gently exfoliate over the next 7-10 days, and the overall texture will improve over time with multiple treatments spaced 7 days apart.
Who cannot be treated?
Almost any healthy adult will benefit except if you have severe rosacea that is worsened by cold exposure. Anyone with cold induced asthma should either pre-treat with albuterol inhaler or have it with you. If you have a history of thromboangiitis obliterans (Buerger’s disease), Raynaud’s or extreme cold intolerance, you cannot be treated.
Any other side effects?
Cold sensation, slight tenderness of skin and possible increased hair growth ( which is why we do not treat the upper lip area unless you are currently under laser hair removal treatment ).
